THE STORY

CARVED is my little world of wearable sculptures, created in Beirut, Lebanon.

I’m Reem, and my obsession with rings started when I was a kid. We’d buy those little surprise bags from the local grocery store, and every now and then, there’d be a cheap plastic ring inside. I wore them on every finger like they were the greatest treasure I’d ever found.

Not much has changed since then. The only difference is that now I carve the rings myself.

I started making wire jewelry with my two sisters in 2001, when I was 15. In 2018, I taught myself wax carving, and it opened up a completely different way of making for me. I could take an idea, a shape, or a feeling and carve it with my own hands until it became something real.

That is still what I love most about jewelry. Not just wearing it, but making it. Starting with a block of wax, figuring things out as I go, and seeing an idea slowly become something I can hold in my hand.

Nature is always somewhere in that process too. Not something I try to recreate, but a constant source of shapes, textures, movement and imperfection.

I like the idea that a piece of jewelry becomes part of someone’s life. Worn often, lived in, collected over time, and eventually carrying a little bit of its own history.
